I made this for my hubby's co-worker. They are expecting a girl and wanted a pink themed baby shower. Hope they like this.

Time goes by so fast these days. Trying to fit in so many activities with the girls I seem to forget to post on here.

This year is going to be a "gifts from the heart". It is not HOW much you spend but HOW much LOVE you put into the effort. I am making gifts for my family and friends. Some have already recieved their gifts, and others will be getting them later.

The girls are making their own Christmas cards to give to classmates and teachers this year. And I am teaching them how to make cute gifts to give as well. We will be picking up some lollypops to decorate and give away for starters. Not sure what else we will find today.

The girls have been enjoying school and I have enjoyed them being there! Nothing like being honest here! LOL.

Here is Emily in her "first day of school" duds. Isn't she cute? She is now officially a first grader! Wow!!!! It seems like yesterday I was holding a sick little girl in my arms, I blink and now she is going on 6!!!

Here is Destiny in her "first day of school" duds. Hard to believe she is now a 5th grader! Wow!!!! She is now quite the beautiful young lady! I believe we will soon have to chase off the boys that will come knocking on our door in the not so distant future!

Books

This is what I have been working on! So cute and with different papers you can create a mulititude of various thems!

This is a simple composition book, add some papers and you have a cool looking journal.

Don't have those kind of books? Ok then, using simple spiral bound notebooks, cover them with beautiful papers and you can make whatever type of speciality book you want.

Or if you have a few coasters hanging around and a bind-it-all, you can make your own art journal (or diary, etc.) that will make the kids want to have for themselves!

You could even have a party for your tween and guests. They can make their own "books" and embellish them as simply or detailed as they desire!

No matter what you decide to do, have fun with it. Enjoy the time you have with your family. May you have a blessed day!

Changes

We all go thru changes in our lifetime. Good, bad, but totally necessary for us to become the person God wants us to be.

These are just a few of the changes we are going through right now (in no particular order):

Destiny and Emily love to scrapbook as much as I do! See how big they are getting! Destiny will be going in the 5th grade! And Emily will be going into the 1st grade! My how time flies!

Tyler is now 16!!!! WHERE has the time gone? I can remember when he was a baby in my arms, and now look! Handsome young man.

Dad died this past April, and it still seems strange not to see him when I go over to Pat's!

You see me in the picture above, I no longer have the long hair, now it is really, really short! I will have to take some pictures of me with my new do!

Whatever changes you may be going through, know that you are not alone. Jesus is with us every step of the way!

Gardening

Here we are (I was here too, just forgot to have someone take my picture doing some work) working in our garden spot. Last weekend we were busy/rainy to work in it. So thought the time was running out to plant. I told Les, if we don't get it planted by this weekend we will not get anything out of it.

Here is Les and Destiny, she is watering the newly planted veggies and Les is explaining something to her.

I showed the girls how I make a hill for cukes, zuchinni, and summer squash, so they do not get eaten by birds and will not come uncovered when it rains.

This is the grape vine that runs along the railing on the deck.

When Les and I first moved into this house 9 1/2 years ago the vines were considerably smaller. Look at them now.

I haven't been blogging for awhile. I had some family that was ill. The majority of them are better.

My Dad had a heart attack on April 15th and was hospitalized with it. He went to EMMC in Bangor. He was there for a few days and was getting better. He died Sunday April 18th. We had visitation last Wednesday night and a short service Thursday night. Tommorrow we bury him with full military honors.

Dad, you were a special man, special Dad, and an awesome grandfather! You have touched many people's heart. You will be missed greatly. Love you!

"Group Therapy

Now this is my kind of "Group Therapy"!

I went to a crop with Kim and Company to Holiday Inn in Waterville yesterday. They spent the night, with pool accommodations, hot tub and all around relaxation. I had originally planned on staying with them, until a little girl got all teary eyed because she couldn't come with Mommy! Sigh, since she has emotional issues, and has a hard time being anywhere without me, I conceded to a "day" of scrap booking. I will have other times I can go and enjoy "group therapy" with my scrap booking buddies!

The delight and happiness when I arrived home from both Destiny and Emily, was the best "homecoming" I have ever received! So I spent an hour listening to what they did and how they spent their day with Pop! I am so totally amazed at how quickly these daughters of mine are growing and maturing! Soon I will be able to bring my girls to the "group therapy" too!

Too all of you out there in the blogosphere, may you enjoy your families and also enjoy your friends! May you be blessed in all that you do.

Sunsets

Here is the sunset from my front door this evening. Beautiful.

I love the view from here. Away from city traffic. I never know what I will see out here. Last week there was 10 deer crossing the road to go in the field behind our vehicles. There have been as many as 20 turkeys in our yard at a time feasing on the crab apple tree as well.

I thought I would share a glimse of my world with you today.

Inspiration from DCWV paper stack

Here are a few cards I made after Patsy gave me The Mariposa Stack.

What beautiful papers! If you love butterflies you will love this paper stack! Take a look at what I made.

I left it at Patsy's after I got it (less to haul back and forth), so I wouldn't be working on it at midnight! Well to say the least, I dreamt the cards I would make with it. Now I know I am not the only one that does that.

I made a few cards using a different techinque I will post on later.

I even made (5) 6x6 inch cards!

Good Morning!

Today I am going to my Dad's to spend some time with him, so my dear sis can go to church. It will be good to see him again as it has been a couple of weeks since I last saw him.

This morning as I sit at my computer, I am feeling very thankful for my Dad. I am very lucky to have had a man with a great sense of humor. I can remember all the fun times we used to have as a kid growing up. Some of them was hilarious! I won't bore you with the details, you will have to trust me on this. LOL.

Dad, everytime I think of you, I thank Jesus. You have helped mold me into the person I am today. Love you Dad.

New cards

I have made some cards from Close To My Heart's Veranda paper package. Love the papers! Using Close To My Heart Cards and Envelopes, I can make more than 50 cards. Depending on how I cut the papers I could make up to 130 or more cards per paper pack! Now that is a good thing. LOL. I really like to make the most out of my money.

With these cards I cut the paper at 5 1/4" by 4" and got 6 fronts out of one 12" by 12" sheet of Background and Texture paper. I liked the pattern of the paper so I stamped my greetings, added some diecuts (using Spellbinders dies), or adding the new Just Blooms Paper Flowers Spring Blossom ($7.95 for 105 flowers, and butterflies). Of course I had to add some bling with my Crystal Stickles (love my bling).

These are simple but nice looking.

I plan on making more to give away for goodie bags at the crops I attend.

Here it is 10 days into the new year and this is my first post! I have been busy designing new workshops and putting together new card kits for my classes. Thought I had better take some time to say hi here.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled Christmas and ringing in the new year. I was the second one in my household to poop out and go to bed. LOL. Destiny fell asleep before she could see the new year in too, and Les actually fell asleep before the the clock struck midnight. What an exciting bunch we are here. LOl.

I have some new things I need to take pictures of to show you. Close to My Heart has come out with some pretty papers this time and I want to take photos when it is daylight out of the layouts, cards and other items I have created with them.

New Year's resolutions (or accomplishments)

Today is New Year's eve! I have been thinking of what I wanted to accomplish this next year. While this list could be never ending, I will start with these few desires:

To eat and be generally healthier. Hopefully that will include exercising (when my heel, heals) as well as getting outside more with the girls.

To de-clutter my home (hubby will be very happy with this) and get rid of things I haven't used or may never use (again hubby will be very happy).

To organize my craft supplies (sewing and paper crafting).

To reach more women with my scrapbooking business. I want to have everyone I teach feel better about themselves, while realizing they too, can do more than they expected (just as Jesus is teaching me, I can do more WITH Him than without Him!)

To start my (sewing or paper crafting) gifts lots earlier than this past year! I think the goal should be at least once a month.

While these seem like a few, it could take me all year to accomplish.

Looks like I am not the only one that likes to make gifts. This is what my sister gave me for Christmas. I remember her making this at a crop we went to in Rockland in November. I thought the black and white combo was striking! Little did I realize I would be the recipient! Lol.

Here is the whole shabang she included into the stationary box. You can click onto the pics for a better view. I have tags, 3x3 gift tags and 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards with envelopes as well. Also a place to put all my addresses, and stamps! What a lot of goodies packed into a small package!

Christmas Morning

Santa left the girls with great goodies! They each got board games (age appropriate), card games and cd players with a cd each.

They had several games of Chutes and Ladders, Connect 4 and listened to their new cd's until the family arrived for Christmas dinner.

We had a good time opening up the gifts this morning. Santa chose not to wrap the gifts he gave this year. So the clean up was minimal. Smart Santa!

Reveal day

Remember this image I was teasing you all a few days ago?

Well here is my reveal. I made this for my sister for Christmas. She has a passion for lighthouses (as do I). When I saw this panel at Walmart some time ago, I immediately thought of her.

Since I had the time when Emmy was recovering from the flu (and later pnewmonia), I thought why not check out my stash of fabric for Christmas gifts?

I made the wall hanging first then had some panels of matching fabric (probably for pillows)and decided to make her a tote bag as well.

This shows how large the tote bag turned out to be! Wow! She should be able to put quite a bit of stuff in there! LOL.

I have my two girls showing off the bag here. They were more than happy to model for me.

Here is a pic of the wallhanging hanging on my wall. The tote bag is in the chair beneath it.

Not sure if she will like it. I hope so.

Wall hanging for hubby

This is the gift I made for my hubby, Les. He loves eagles, and when I saw this panel at Walmart a while ago (could be 3 to 5 years ago now), I knew I had to get it for him.

Well last week my 5 year old was sick with the flu and pnewmonia so I started digging thru my stash of fabric in my closet. I found many delightful things I could work on. Here is another of my stashes.

Destiny turns 10!

It is hard to believe that Destiny is now 10! Wow WHERE has the time gone? It seems like yesterday I brought her home. She was so little then, and such a cutie. I had wondered all those years ago if I had done the right thing when she sat on the floor and cried. Little did I know she would soon blossom into the beautiful young lady she is today.

I look at her and realize how blessed I am. What a kind and loving heart she has. If more people were like her, the world would be a much better place for all of mankind. I find I learn from her too. Her, with her innocence wrapped around her like a cloak. Trusting in her instincts when she sees a child that has withdrawn from others, she walks over with a smile on her face, and says "Hi I'm Destiny. Would you like someone to play with?"

When her sister Emily came to live with us almost four years ago, Destiny was right there helping us. Destiny saw Emily was withdrawn and indifferent to us, she was the warm and loving Big sister. Destiny tried to get Emily involved in playing with toys, with walking and talking. Soon Emily came out of her shell, and now adores her sister. You can see the adoration for Destiny Emily has in some of the pictures I have taken. Emily is smiling brightly looking adoringly at her sister.

I hope Destiny will continue to bless others as she has our family. My wish for you, dear daughter, is to have a happy and peaceful life. May you spread joy where ever you go.

30 Cards and 5 Totes made today!

I got the Jingle paper pack from Close To My Heart last week. I didn't have a chance to use it until today. Yes from the name of the paper pack it does say Christmas, but I thought I would use it for birthday's. Here is my take on it.

Yep, I didn't even take out the right cards to show how I used it! Groan! Well, the cards out of the tote is from the Perfect Day paper pack. I like the colors in this as well.

Now the cards with the Jingle papers are made with the polka dots and the presents. To me that can also say BIRTHDAY!

How to make 100 cards in 5 days

This is my recipe for making 100 cards in 5 days. You will be surprised how quickly these work up!

Step 1. Choose stamp, card stock and Designer Paper to go with the image desired.

Step 2. Cut out card stock for the image times 10. This is where you will save time.

Step 3. Stamp images onto pre-cut card stock.

Step 4. Color images. I color all images with the same color first, then go to the second color, and so on. This saves time as well.

Step 5. Cut the designer paper for the front of the card, remembering to cut 10 for each card you are making. You can also make the number of cards you desire.

Step 6. On the inside of the card bases stamp the saying you want for each card.

Step 7. Glue the designer paper to the front of each card.

Step 8. Glue or use foam tape (for dimension)on the images you have stamped and colored.

Step 9. Add other embellishments (if desired) to the cards.

Step 10. Match up the cards with the envelopes and viola, you have 10 (or how ever many) cards finished!

Of course you can do as many cards at a time as you desire. This is how I make as many cards as possible in a day.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to take a moment out of my busy life and let you know I now have a monitor! Yippee!

I am in the process of making cards for more of my workshops. If anyone is interested, I hold my workshops at the Scrap N Yak Shack (475 Mount View Rd, Thorndike). Usually Thursdays, but can make other arrangements.

I will be taking pictures and posting on here soon. I seem to be having technical difficulites with the quality of the photos.

I am so excited! I have some company comming today! I pick her up at the airport this afternoon. Her name is Michelle Zindorf! Yes! I will be taking her beginning and advanced classes at my house this Friday and Saturday! She is an incredibly talented lady, and cannot wait to learn from her. I am sure you will see some of my artwork after the classes.

First Day of School!

I am posting these late this month as I have been one busy Mama! LOL. Here are the pictures I took of the girls as the momentous occassion took place!

Destiny and Emily are waiting impatiently for the "big yellow bus" to take them to the brand new school at Mount View Elementary. At this point it looks like Emily is thinking about not being able to see me at any given moment and is feeling a bit unsecure. I am proud to announce she did great and didn't even cry (I did have tears!) when she got on the bus and left for school. Destiny, on the other hand, is like an old pro at it by now and has her usual smile on her face!

This was taken inside, before the long bus wait. Emily was full of smiles and anticipation of her big adventure.

This is Destiny with a grin on her face as she tells me Mom! You do this every time! Yes my dear, so you can put this in your scrap book and look on it years later to remember the occassion, and so I can look back and see just how adorable you were back then!

Where has the time gone?

Where did the month go? Seems like I have been playing catch up for quite some time now. LOL. Geeze, now I know I am getting old! My grandmother always told me time would move faster when one gets older. How right she was!

So what have I been up to? Well let me see, getting card classes together. check.

Organizing my home - well cannot check that as it seems to be a work in progress! Insert screaming girl here! Ahhhhhh!

Got the girls ready for school - check.

Got Emmy her first "real big girl's (twin) bed, check.

Got out Destiny's dresser (thank you Mark, it lasted for awhile), check.

Clean up and organize girls room - hmmnnn, no.

Clean up and organize my bedroom - oh boy, let's go to something else!

Sewing/scrap/play room - oh forget this list, I need to go and find something else to chat about!

I have Michelle Zindorf comming to my home to teach her amazing brayering techniques (still room available), and I am no where ready. Groan. I have also been working to get ready for the Scrap For Hope in Augusta, Sept. 19th! Almost done there!

Whew! Seems I cannot get my to do list out of my mind, so I know what I will be doing this weekend!

41 Years Later

It has been 41 years since I have graduated from the 8th grade! Wowza! Where has the time gone? We got to do some catching up Saturday when we had a reunion. This was a super idea! I hope we don't wait that long again before we can get together again!

Here I am with Mr. Hill, my 8th grade teacher, and principle. I am afraid we, the students, were the ones that have changed in our looks. Mr Hill still looks the same, maybe a little grayer in the hair, but still the nice looking teacher I remember way back then. Look at his smile.

Crop for Heros 5-30-09

On my first Crop for Heroes, I had a total of 4 at the tables in my kitchen. Actually my sister was the only one that came, but Destiny and Emily wanted to make cards too, so they made 2 each, Patty made 16, and I made 28! Not too shabby!

Here I am coloring in an image, notice the concentration? LOL. I had a headache that would require more than the Tylenol I took to get rid of. I am surprised I accomplished as many as I did with the whopper of a headache.

Here is my sister Patty, she did an amazing number of cards in the amount of time allotted. See the smile on her face?

Here is Destiny, my beautiful granddaughter of 9 years. What a sweet person she is. She is so excited to be making cards to send to solders. I am not sure if I will be sending her and her sister's cards with the ones we send, or just keeping them (for a layout). I may have them draw a picture to send with the cards instead.

Here is Emily, my 4 year old. She colored her images and glued the pieces together so quickly she acted like a pro. What fun we had! LOL. Well at least for the first half hour or so. Then she got antsy, so her sister Destiny put in a movie for her, Snow White.

So there you have it folks. This is what it is all about. Taking some time out of our busy day to show others our appreciation for their sacrifices while protecting us, and our rights as United States Citizens.

Crop for Heros

I am having a Crop for Heros, at my home Saturday May 30th, from 10am to 2pm. Join me and friends to make some cards to let our Heros know how much we love and appreciate them! Free crop, bring your own materials, my stamps and ink will be available for use for this project.

Yet another "From The Desk Of" card box with 12 cards

Using papers from Paper Trey Ink

I had a hard time choosing a pattern for this box. I want to do more! Is this a sickness or what? I used Papertreyink vellum cardstock for the paper Piercing. I think I may even make some cards with this little jewel of vellum! Almost like parchment paper. Love it.

Shades of Purple

I have another of Lauren's Timeless Templates "From the Desk Of" here in shades of purple. The cards and the card box have been made the same as the previous post using different papers and vellum. All are hand pierced by me. Check out http://papertreyink.com and get your own templates.

Since I like the natural light so much better than my flash, I decided to take these outside for a photo shoot.

I even covered the back of the card case to match the sides and front, nothing like having a completed look!

The front has been outfitted with the paper flowers and the half pearls to give it bling and a more finished look.

The papers used here are some from My Minds Eye and the vellum are some from It Takes Two. Beautiful colors! What a great Mother's Day Gift this would be! LOL.

Card Class at AC Moore in Bangor, May 17th from 3pm to 5pm

I have decided to become an instructor at AC Moore in Bangor. I taught Accordian fold cards in April and thought I should do something simpler for May. This is what I came up with.

I named this card workshop "6 Simply Beautiful Cards". Since these cards are simple AND beautiful, I thought it was aptly named.

I used 2 DCWV 4" x 6"; The Spring Matstack and The Spring Glitter Matstacks. What beautiful papers! On the first one, with the dandilions, I thought I would just emboss the sentiment. The second one has a wise old owl asking "What's the word bird". LOL. LOVE owls!

For this next card I choose To have this bird on her nest, and she says "FRIENDSHIP (that means you chick). The next card has yet another owl sitting on a branch saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY you old bird.

This next card is monocramatic and has the beautiful saying "with thoughts of you", I pop-dotted a butterfly to give it some dimension and put crystals on the dot of the I and the for the flower centers, to add even more glam to it.

This last one took advantage of the silhouette of the flowers, and just embossed in black "Thank you".

These cards have a sparkle to them that my camera (or should I say my picture taking abilities) do not do them justice. These are much better in person. LOL. Ya, don't we all say that?

I used 2 stamp sets from Inkadinkado: Garden Flower and Bird Assortment.

This card class has openings for 18 people. If you are interested, you need to go to the AC Moore in Bangor and sign in and pay for this class (or others). There is a project sheet that will let you know the products for this class (you provide your own supplies and pay a $10 fee for this class). How simple is that?

Cards in a box

Have you ever purchased patterns online? Or even thought about it? Wondered if the directions would be too confusing? Well wonder no more. I purchased this template "From The Desk Of" at Paper Trey Ink dot com. The designer is the talented Lauren Meader. I love this design and have made three to date already. This will be great for gifts, whether or not it is filled with cards as mine is, or you can fill with what ever you wish. If you go to Lauren's blog (mytimemycreationsmystampendancedotcom) you will see how she used a few different takes on it. So when you purchase the templates you also get 5 different designers using this template to help with the creativity flow. And all for $5! What a bargain.

You can see here I have my box filled to the brim with 12 note cards and envelopes. I have been using my cuttlebug and embossing folders (love them) for the designer papers and the flaps of the envelopes. I also purchased some piercing templates from Cheryl Horton from Inspire Me!, which I cut in half and adhered to the front of my cards.

Have I mentioned I LOVE texture on my cards? LOL. I really like the way these turned out. With the box, this will make a gift that will show someone you care!

I also made a square tube to put in the bottom of the divider (darn forgot to snap a picture of that) to make a step up for the cards, so now you can see both patterns for this set.

I took one of the half circle piercing, trimmed it and then adhered to the circle front, added a strip of desginer paper and some paper flowers to the front bottom and viola! Done!

Lollipop Covers

I saw a few different lollipop covers on several blogs I frequent often, and decided I wanted to make some as well. The covers I saw involved ribbon to secure the lollipop. Since I didn't want to go to that length and extra steps needed to make it that way, I decided to add another flap and secure it with a glue dot instead. That way I could make a hundred of them without hurting my hands with the extra punching.

It took a little bit of figuring out for the measurements to have the cover equal on all sides. Here is what I came up with:

Cut card stock 8 1/8" x 2 1 /2"
score at 2 1/2", and 2 3/4" at each end
fold at score lines
cut 2 3/8" square of card stock
2 1/2" square of designer paper
cut a square of card stock to stamp image
a 1/4" square of card stock to mat image
You will need a big bite or hand held eyelet punch and hammer, to punch the hole for the stick to go thru. Center this in the middle of the 1/4" margin on the bottom.

Emily Sue Kendall!

Yesterday, March 25th, was a special day for us in the Kendall family. Not only was it Les' birthday, but Emily was adopted as well. The girls had a wonderful time in the ceremony, the judge was very nice, and family and friends came to celebrate with us in this wonderous event.

Things accomplished

Things I have accomplished today. I made 4 loaves of bread, cut my hubby's hair and I made 3 aprons! Woo Hoo! Yesterday I made a bib apron for me and a pair of pants. The girls saw my apron and wanted one for themselves too.

I came up with my own pattern as I didn't have enough material for the patterns I had. I think they came out pretty cute. I made a simple tie for them and had some pretty colors of fabric in my stash.

Yes the girls have been in their pj's all day as we had another snow day here in Maine.

Now to put them to work cooking! I think they said something about wanting to make some cookies.

Here is my pretty pink posey on pink cardstock. See all the layers of the flowers I put on it.

I used my oval nesties again for the focal point. This time I have one in white to accent the pink and the flowers.

A Glimse into the Kendall household

I took this picture about a week and a half ago because it is one I do not see often. The house at the corner looks bathed in fog that froze onto the trees. Quite a splendid picture I thought. When the fog got up to us, the air had warmed up enough so the trees here did not freeze.

Here is a picture of Destiny and Emily in the kitchen. Destiny asked to wash the dishes (can you believe it?) and Emily is doing the heavy lookin on! LOL. Emily wanted to help with the dishes, but since she is so small (only 4) I told her she can help in a year or two. In the mean time she is getting pointers from her sister.

I can honestly say I do NOT remember asking my mom if I can do the dishes at any age! LOL.

It's a BOY!

No, no, I'm not having a boy, really! But I know someone who is. LOL. This is a commissioned job and I am almost done!

But I have very sad news. So sad in fact, I felt the desire to fall to my knees and scream, no, no NO! What could this be? Not anything to do with the baby, at least the baby the cards are for. No, this is because I BROKE MY SEWING MACHINE this morning! My trusty friend, the one who has been with me for (gasp) 20 years now, is on her way to Ken, at Yardgoods Center in Waterville to be repaired, and cleaned. I hope Ken will take good care of MY baby while he has her. I also hope he can fix her up with a tune up and a cleaning.

But enough of my woes, here are some of the cards I have been working on. I am not saying any names here, because the soon to be grand mother wants this to be a surprise. Need I say more?

These cards are made with glittered papers from an old DCWV paper stack, the greetings were printed off my computer, and the adorable garaffe from CTMH's stamp set called Nursery Bash.

I stamped the garaffe's onto creme brulee (again CTMH), colored them with the CTMH makers black and autumn terracotta, cut them out and pop dotted them to the DP.

I sewed around the greetings, to make it look like a quilt block, and glued it to the DP as well.

One inch treasures

I have been working on a different kind of art these past 2 days. One inch wonders. I am in a swap with other CTMH consultants and these are my contributions. How do you like them?

A little hard to see? Fear not, just click onto the picture and you can see the cute little images.

You would think deciding what to submit would be easy. Wrong! LOL. No I like the difficult and challenging. What should have taken me a day has now turned into at least another day of stamping and coloring before I can send off my "babies" to join the hostess' large collection for this and yet another swap.

I am enjoying these little "wonders", and can see them on a multitude of things. For instance this size would be great for the 3"x 3" cards I have done, along with standard size cards and also layouts. Giving them up to use will be the difficult thing I am afraid. LOL.

Finally Close To My Heart has come out with some gals! These are so cute, and has a vast potential for cards of all kinds. I am using the DCWV Sweet paper pad with these two cards. I used diamond stickles on her gown.

The inside is pretty as well. Sorry for bad photos, you will have to take my word, these cards really look good in person.

This one has a different color background. On this lady I used the opal glitter glue I got at Walmart.

I finished the inside of this one with a larger white card stock area.

This one is using Close To My Heart Silhouette Papers. I used the heart Nestibilities for the hearts.

This one is using the Close to My Heart bubblegum card stock and background and texture papers, now retired.

I used the cutlebug dies for this one as well as the heart Nestabilities.

Nana's Beauty

My grandmother always had a flower garden, which inspired me to have one of my own, of course, a lot smaller than hers. So at the age of 5 I had my first flower garden. She gave me a rose bush, and some seedlings to plant. The most favorite of mine was her morning glorys. Beautiful!

So this card is for my grandmother who brought such beauty into a little girl's heart.

The inside is not plain either. The sentiment speaks of another woman's incredible wisdom, Mother Teresa.

Let your light shine

This is my first attempt at an inspiring card. I got this stamp from stampin up (thanks Sue for being a demonstator). I used outdoor denium ink on white card stock, a Martha Stewart border punch for the bottom of the white, and textured card stock for the dark blue. I think this may make a better book mark (using just the white), than it does a card. Oh well, that is my opinion.

Since I wasn't happy with the first one, I had to do it again. This time I made it a regular size card. I used moonstruck for the ink, white card stock for the base and for the stamped image. Then I put adhesive on the top of the image, put a used fabric softner sheet (brushed with sandpaper), smooth the sheet over the image to make sure it is glued down, then apply glitter and smooth that down.

Now it looks like I wanted. It really looks better in person. Like the lighthouse is in a fog ladden place.

Celebration of life

We had a death in our church family recently and I wanted to create a smpathy card that was as beautiful as the lady was. This card I created is a celebration in life. The flowers used in this card are as bright and beautiful as Mimi. The sentiments used are for the family to remind them that their loved one is now with God, and that God is only a prayer away.

Here is the inside of the card showing all the folds and sentiments. This is not the actual card I made for her family. I didn't take pictures before I signed the card, so I made another to take a picture of and share. I hope you like my Celebration Of Life card.

Icy pictures

This morning it snowed about an inch and now is raining. Since I hadn't posted these pictures when we got the ice storm about a week ago, I thought I would post them now.
I wasn't at home to take pictures, but I got them at daycare. Traveling in an ice storm is scarey at best, but it sure does have breath taking beauty.

This is where the kids play when the weather co-operates! Nice toys and a swing set to play with.

I survived Christmas

I survived Christmas, barely! LOL. It seems I can operate on little to NO sleep for days! Which for me this time, seems to be a matter of a couple of weeks total. Whew! Now the hub-bub of the season is over, I can take a few minutes to sit back and enjoy my cup of Gingerbread flavored coffee. Yummy!

Now yesterday I was working on a different kind of card I saw on another gal's blog, Michelle Giraud. Her accordion card is similar, but mine I did a few things differently. Thanks Michelle! If I knew how to insert her blog addy here I would do it, but am computer illiterate (well almost).

Here is the inside: I took a plain piece of card stock cut it to 5 1/4 inches by 12 inches, scored the paper at 2 inches, 5 inches and 8 inches. The backing piece is 5 1/2 inches by 4 1/4 inches.

I folded on the scored lines to get this fold. I measured DP paper to 1/4 inch smaller than the space I wanted to decorate. I then added my greeting and the pop-dotted flower corners. I cut around 12 inches for the ribbon, glued it to the back of the card, then glued down the card and the ribbon.

Here is the card closed. I had the ribbon wrap all the way around the card so I could have this tied neatly in the front. So tell me what you think. Any and all comments are welcome. If you have trouble seeing my photos, click onto them and you will get a larger view.

Of course what I haven't told you is how LONG it took me to FINISH this card! I started it yesterday morning and didn't finish it until the AFTERNOON! I was looking for CTMH stamp set Any Occasions, and couldn't find it. I searched high and low (yes I DO need to do a through cleaning around here), and 2 hours later, still couldn't find it. So I used the one I could find, Gracious Greetings. I actually think I like this better!

I will not panic, I will NOT panic! LOL. Oh boy seems like I wanted to do so much for Christmas this year. The clock is slowly ticking away. I will get done what I will get done!

I am going to take a deep breath and relax. Have a cup of coffee, and go from there. We will be having our little party at daycare today, as Monday was a snow day and yesterday was the trip to the dentist. The girls are done for 6 months! Yahoo.

Snow days

The girls are playing on the deck a few days ago. Great job on the shoveling Destiny!

Snow days, snow days, nothing like a snow day! No school for today so we can get plowed out from under God knows how many inches of the wonderful white stuff! Even hubby didn't go in to work today!

I cannot post pictures yet as the wind is blowing so hard I may be blown away! Just take my word, it is a white wonderland out there.

I plan on taking today and having the girls help with the cooking. I need to make a few cards first then clear off the table so the girls can mix to their hearts content.

Merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas to all of you.
I don't know about anyone else, but I am feeling the pressure of the holiday season. I still have some gifts to make I havent even cut out yet! I want to make the girls some pj's that they like (nightgowns), from some cute material I got a few years ago. Sigh, where does the time go?

I want to make more things for them as well, like matresses and blankets for the cradles that Patsy and Bobby gave me. The cradles sit in the craft room waiting to be made over just for them as well.

About a couple of weeks ago, I was feeling a lot of pressure as I needed to finish about a hundred cards for a workshop that was comming up, and even more cards for a different card workshop for another group of ladies, and I started to panick. I seem to do much better early in the morning (when peace reigns here). So I got up really early to work on them. As I sat and sipped on my coffee, I felt peace flow through me from my head to my toes. And a voice that is kind and loving (Jesus) spoke to me in this quiet time. He said for me to relax, and I will accomplish all He wants me to if I trust in Him. I cannot tell you how relieved I was!

I have put my faith in Jesus and my desire to follow Him no matter where He leads me for the past 7 years now. I am so blessed! So if any of you out there have had a tugging of your heart, like something is missing, accept Jesus into your heart. And you too can live a blessed life.

May you all have a blessed life in Jesus.

Not just another day

Today is Saturday November 1, 2008. This is not just another day here in my neck of the woods. You see I took the girls to the Doc's yesterday as both were coughing and had fevers. We spent the better part of the day there, between the Doc's office and Walmart to get the precriptions for Emmy. We also went to Joann's (what is a trip to Bangor with out at least checking them out) and then to McD's for a late lunch.

We left home at 9:30am and didn't return home til after 4pm. For the most part the girls were good, even though they were not feeling the best. Both slept most of the hour trip home. LOL.

So needless to say they didn't get a chance to go trick or treating last night at all. Hopefully they will have better luck next year.

The meds are working on Emmy as she is now up and running around, her sister however is not. If she is not feeling better by tomorrow morning I will take her to the Doc's again. DD did eat today which is always a good sign.

The reason why I titled this post as not just another day is because it has been a few months since we have had sickness in this family that has effected both of the girls. I like it that way, and would love it to be lots longer! LOL.

I have been working on some cards this day and may be able to post later the pics.

New Christmas card

I worked on this card for hours and hours. Probably would have been easier and less time involved if I had had some sleep last night. Emily had an asthma attack that lasted until the wee hours this morning. The wreath idea with the Martha Stewart punch came from Kathi Carlson, and the door came from another person out there in the blogosphere, sorry I do not remember your name. I want to thank the both of you. Here is my contribution to those concepts.

The inside is finished as well, with CTMH BT (retired) papers in Topiary and finished with the same Topiary CS branches. The greeting is from CTMH stamp set D1179 Festive Thoughts. If you want to see it closer, just click on the picture.

I used CTMH Tulip CS for the door panels, Topiary CS for the wreath and red beads for the berries on the wreath. Also used on the front is pop-dots and a regular sized brad for the door handle. See how the branches sweep out from the wreath?

Whew, lots of time and detail went into this one little card! You can be sure the recipient of this card, as well as any others I make will totally respect the time and love that went into it.

It appears that I have added these pictures in the wrong order, lol, go figure. Maybe when I do this more often I can do it right. Here is Pat and Scott enjoying some cake and icecream.

This is Emily, we sang the "birthday song" to her. She was so happy and excited! Then the tears came.

We had such a wonderful day. Even at church everyone sang the "Birthday song" to her.

Good Morning

It is now 6:30am in my world. All in my house is asleep except for Emily and myself. She has been up off and on for a few hours now due to her coughing attributed to asthma. I gave her a treatment at 5:30 this morning, and now her coughing is lessening. This is a milder case of asthma. When I really worry about whether or not I will have to take her to the ER, or call an ambulance, when the treatment does not slow down her coughing. That, my friends, is really scary.

I am supposed to go to a card workshop today, and as long as Emily doesn't get any worse, I will go. My husband is here and knows what to do when needed. Thank goodness for that. When Emily first came into our home, there would be times I would go to bed early (which was ok as I worked 3rd shift) and he would treat her and watch her until I woke up, then I would take over. This went on for a year and a half. Since I realized I wouldn't be able to live on an hour or 3 of sleep for extended periods of time, I quit working. Much easier for us all around except for the wallet.

It is times like this that I take a moment and look back at how far this little girl has come. The asthma attacks are lessening, and her health is improving greatly. She is now in her own little bed, which may or may not last her until next summer the way she is growing. LOL. This young lady knows her abc's and can count to 23 without any mistakes! Not a bad accomplishment for a 4 year old that was diagnosed with failure to thrive when we got her.

I have pictures of her birthday party I will post later. Right now I have to set out the clothes for the girls to wear.

Thanksgiving Cards

Here are a few Thanksgiving cards I have made.

This one measures 5 inches by 7 inches. I used some what monochromatic colors for this leaving the image uncolored.

This one has the same image only colored. Once again, I have used DCWV paper pad, this one is the fall one.

this one I used just the paper to enhance the card with a saying that was included in the paper pad, I just cut the saying out and matted them. This card measures 5 inches by 7 inches.

This card I used the scraps left over from the card above. Worked out pretty good. Monocramatic colors used in this card measuring 5 1/2 inches square. The greeting for the card was from Close to My Heart's Say It In Style stamp set.

And they are bringing in some holiday cheer!

I found these adorable guys in a DCWV Glitter paper pad. So I had to bring them to life. What do you think? LOL.

Here is what I did to dress up the insides. Pretty cool wouldn't you say (play on words here) I used my winter embossing folder on my cardstock.

This guy is ringing in some cheer! I really liked this stack of papers.

Here is the inside again same as the other. Why fix something that isnt broken? LOL.

Well actually 4! Here are the start of my Christmas cards for this year. House Mouse has these cute little mice with a Christmas flavor.

I have the first three the same images, only the papers and the coloring is different. I like the not so traditional colors, but had to see how the traditional red and green would look. I must say I do like them. Arn't they cute little buggers?

This is using the traditional colors.

I must say I love the shades of purple (love that color)!

I also like the color blue with my christmas cards. I think these came out very cute.

Ok, so I have these 4 done, now only 246 more to go! Oh dear, must go for now. I Think I need to put a pot of coffee on! Where's my trimmer? I know I got a pad of DCWV christmas paper, but where is it? Excuse me folks for now. You all have a wonderful night, and may you all be blessed!

Here are some girls I have been working on. Arn't they cute? LOL. Here are the four of them together.

Here is one that is my favorite thing to do . . . go shopping! Although my stuff would be scrappbooking supplies and embellishments!

Here is another cakeabella. Which reminds me, I will be baking a birthday cake for Emily soon. She will be 4 years old the 9th of October! I wonder what theme it will be? Maybe I should ask her, or perhaps I shall surprise her. Whatever it will be it will be chocolate, as this is what she has asked for!

Here is teachabella, in celebration of all the teachers all over the world! Hee hee. Love school and the quiet times at daycare! Especially when the little ones are napping! Now if I could get them to nap at the same time!

Rainy Saturday

Another week has gone by the wayside already! An update on my tooth, the swelling has gone down, however, the pain is on again off again. Still have a few more days on the meds. Will call the dentist on Monday to set up an appointment for the tooth to be removed along with all the other teeth that is broken. I really have a hard time with visits such as these and tend to put them off way longer than I should. Hence the reason I had an abscessed tooth to begin with.

I have made several cards this past week and will take pictures of them when I can work out the lighting for my camera, so you can see the glitz and glitter. I love getting ready for Christmas, from the card making to the gift giving. When I start early enough I have enough cards to box up and give as gifts as well. And that makes everyone happy!

Don't you just love the weekends? I do! But maybe not this weekend, as I have an ulcerated eye tooth. boo hoo. The things I could have gotten accomplished! I am not able to work on more cards as the medication I am on makes me dizzy, and even sick, not to mention downright tired! I hope the penicillin works fast as I would like to go to church in the morning without this swollen face.

here we are going to the playground, it was a little walk.

Now we are at the playground, Destiny has found the slides and dried them out.

Emily is on her favorite the swings. She needed help getting on but not a push like Les is giving her. That gal can pump! Had to tell her to not go so high a few times.

Destiny had to climb this thing and when she got to the top she froze! Les helped her down (of course I was taking pictures of it).

Here is the picture my darling hubby took of me finishing my ride on the slide. Only more proof in the fact you can be immature forever!

A day at the campground

Sunday we went to Lake St. George campground to visit with the family. We had such a wonderful time there. First we chilled and chatted.

Then we chatted and chilled some more.

All of us chilled and chatted for probably the first 2 hours we were there. I have proof as seen here in these photos. What is that you say? Where am I? Why my dear, I am taking the pictures! LOL. Yes I know taking pictures can be hard work, but believe me I was chilling and chatting along with the rest of them.

and if you don't believe me, ask my hubby! He will tell you I can chill and chat along with the best of them.

Ok, so we did play too. We took the girls to the playground and we had a great time there! See I am up high on the playground equipment when I took this shot (see above photo).

We even went down the slide! LOL. Yes I had to try it myself. It was fun, even though I didn't fit like I used too! LOL. We had such a great time. I am feeling it today however, as my body is telling me I am no longer a child and will have to pay for all my fun.

Saturdays are for BBQ's

We had a family BBQ saturday in honor of Bea and Harry and Jim and Ellen comming to Maine for a visit. Of course my sister Patty and her hubby Scott was there to welcome them as well.

Tiger Woods had filled her belly and decided to take a nap under the chair.

a weekend to remember

My husband's brother Jim and his wife Ellen, and sister Bea and her husband Harry were up this weekend. What a great time we had! The only one missing was Norma. She was missed. The girls had fun with them as well. Harry showed them how his camera worked and even let them wear his watch.
